Northern Wren, Zaunkönig, Troglodytes troglodytes, Troglodyte mignon, Scricciolo Scricciolo, poleschet
With a body length of just nine to eleven centimeters, the wren is one of the smallest birds in Switzerland. Its life depends on dense bushes. For the wren is often on the ground, where it searches for insects and spiders. The male builds several spherical nests, which he offers the female to choose from. With its inconspicuous brown-red plumage, the wren is well camouflaged. Often you hear it rather than see it. For, despite its small size, it so loudly flaunts and trills that it can be heard from as far away as 500 meters! It often sings from branches or elevated perches. Typical for the wren is the roundish shape and the usually vertically placed tail.
